FAQ | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Would my organization be eligible to apply?

Please see our list of guidelines to learn whether your organization is eligible to apply and fits within our funding priorities. In general, we make grants to organizations that are geographically close to board members so they can make site visits to determine eligibility. Please note that all funding requests from outside the City of Chicago are by invitation only.

What is the process to apply?

Organizations located within the City of Chicago begin by filling out the Letter of Inquiry form on-line. We will review each inquiry and if you are chosen to submit a full proposal, we will send you a link to apply for a grant. Everything must be submitted on-line through our link in order to be considered for a grant. Grant submissions are reviewed at our bi-yearly meeting and you will be notified of our trustees decision. Organizations from outside the City of Chicago are by invitation only.

What is the deadline to apply for a grant?

March 1 and September 1.

How long will it take for me to hear if I am eligible to apply for a grant?

Generally, you will receive a response within a few weeks of your submission.

How long will it take for me to hear if my grant request is approved?

The trustees meet twice per year to review grants — in the spring and fall. Spring grantees will be notified by June 1st and Fall grantees by December 1st.
